About

SHH Theory is an independent production label led by filmmaker Michal Imielski. Founded in the early 2000s, the company has developed work across film, theatre, opera, music, and hybrid performance, building a long history of cross-disciplinary production in Australia and internationally.

Over more than two decades, SHH and its associated projects have created and presented feature performance works, film projects, touring productions, and collaborative works across multiple artforms. This includes presentations at venues such as Sydney Opera House in 2005, as well as projects developed and presented through organisations including Riverside Theatres and CarriageWorks.

Previous work includes the award-winning feature film Dead Sunrise, alongside productions such as Blind, as you see it, How to Lose Sight, and Unsex Me. Across this period, SHH built a reputation for developing intimate, visually distinctive works grounded in collaboration across disciplines.

SHH Theory is now primarily focused on developing and producing independent narrative films, building on its long history in hybrid arts and performance. Current activity is centred on a slate of feature projects spanning psychological drama, horror, dark comedy, and auteur-driven cinema, with production planned between 2026 and 2028.
