SHH Theory
SHH Theory is an independent Australian film studio led by filmmaker Michal Imielski.
The studio is focused on feature film development and production, with projects moving through scripts, actor readings, workshops, visual research, proof-of-concept scenes, partnerships and long-term production pathways.
SHH Theory develops narrative cinema shaped by actors, image, sound, rhythm, atmosphere and the slow process of moving a film from page to screen.
Artistic Lineage
Founded in the early 2000s, SHH Theory has a long history across film, theatre, opera, music, puppetry and hybrid performance.
That history now functions as cinematic DNA rather than a separate public identity. It informs the studio’s approach to bodies, voice, ritual, composition, movement and performance, while the current focus remains independent feature film.
Work connected to SHH Theory has been presented through organisations and venues including Sydney Opera House, Riverside Theatres and CarriageWorks. Previous screen work includes the award-winning feature film Dead Sunrise.
Current Studio Model
SHH Theory is building a feature slate through practical development activity: writing, readings, actor workshops, visual research, proof-of-concept scenes, venue conversations, collaborators, sponsors and production planning.
Readings and workshops are part of the film pathway: testing characters, discovering actors, shaping tone, building audience and preparing the work for future finance and production.
SHH Theory is open to conversations with actors, producers, venues, sponsors and collaborators interested in feature development, readings, proof-of-concept work and long-term production pathways.
